Registrations are filling up for Bit Digital Edition, the innovative digital evolution of the most influential tourism event in Italy, which will be held online from the 9th to the 11th of May for operators and from the 12th to the 14th for travel enthusiasts. More than 1,000 exhibitors are registered and counting, with many from abroad. Operators on the platform will have the opportunity to get in touch with buyers through Expo Plaza, a virtual, multimedia and interactive exhibition space, and to access the rich calendar of training and information events that have always distinguished Bit Milano. These events will address subjects that are relevant and useful for the relaunch of the entire tourism system.

As always, there are many different proposals from abroad. While short-haul is represented by classic tourism icons such as the Canary Islands and Ibiza, “life-long” destinations such as San Marino as well as the 'new Europe' of Poland or Slovakia and undiscovered corners of the Mediterranean such as Croatia and Tunisia, in medium and long haul, the more traditional 'dream holiday' destinations - Malaysia, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Seychelles, Cuba - will be joined by undiscovered destinations such as the British Virgin Islands or Namibia.

Libra Haniff, Tourism Malaysia 's Director for France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, explains that "...we have designed new itineraries and experiences that, in addition to showcasing our tropical forests and crystal clear island waters, also point to lesser known but equally beautiful destinations such as Terengganu, Kelantan, Penang and Sarawak".

On the other side of the world, in the Caribbean, there is a focus on safety: "The Dominican Republic remains one of the safest tourist destinations in the area due to its low incidence rate and a mass vaccination programme that is continuing well. In addition, our tourism model has been made more sustainable, with important agreements to protect the environment, including a project aimed at the recovery of the island's beaches, as well as a plan for the digitalisation of services and licences,"comments Neyda Garcia, Director of the Dominican RepublicTourism Board.

But innovation is also close to home, and doesn’t exclude business travel. The Secretary of State for Tourism of the Republic of San Marino, Federico Pedini Amati, comments: "We are devoting ourselves to the development of outdoor and experiential tourism. Because of the space and distance involved, this is particularly suitable at this time in history. At the same time, we are putting our faith in starting up again and are devoting particular effort to ensuring that there are security protocols in place to guarantee that the events can take place".
