A tourist destination to be enjoyed in the name of sport, nature, adventure and fun. To fully enjoy the extraordinary environmental resources of a land waiting to be discovered.
To meet the needs of travellers in recent years, it is increasingly important to make tourism sustainable. The Abruzzo Region is committed on this front and has been awarded the Active and Sustainable Tourism brand.
As stated by the Councillor for Productive Activities, Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Entertainment Daniele D'Amario “The Abruzzo Region is characterized as a destination for active and sustainable tourism through the disposal of waste, the use of materials with low environmental impact, the use of renewable energy sources, the proper management of resources”.
It also becomes essential to take steps to care for the evolved and conscious traveller. In particular, Abruzzo is a candidate to be a privileged destination for bike lovers to whom it offers hundreds of miles of bike paths: “Starting with Bike to Coast, the bike/pedestrian route that runs along the entire Abruzzo coastline, MTB routes and downhill circuits, as well as numerous road stages designed homogeneously throughout the region”.
“Abruzzo ranks in Europe as the authentic green heart of the Mediterranean - adds D'Amario - with one third of the territory bound by three national parks and a regional one. A territory characterized by a 'wilderness' attitude that over time has allowed the protection of a large number of animal and plant species, configuring the entire region as an extraordinary biological laboratory for the conservation of nature and ecosystems”.
In addition to nature, the Abruzzo villages and cuisine stand out as typical elements of the region. “Pervaded by a multitude of identity aspects that make up its own uniqueness, the land of Abruzzo is also characterized by the presence of a widespread network of small and ancient villages with millenary charm, precious guardians of an exclusive heritage of artistic goods and traditional knowledge. One of the best ways to discover Abruzzo is to take a trip among its many food and wine excellences”.
Certainly the awarding of the Blue Flag to 13 Abruzzo localities, including two inland locations in the province of L'Aquila, Scanno and Villalago, has greatly contributed to the recovery of the sector in Abruzzo. As for the summer of 2022, D'Amario concludes: “It is observed that the north coast of Abruzzo, always appreciated for relaxing family vacations, is already registering a certain interest. Interest in other equipped seaside resorts such as Francavilla al Mare and Vasto is also to be noticed. The coast of Trabocchi will certainly be an attractive destination, given the excellent usability of beaches and coves, reachable in slow mode through the pedestrian and bicycle path that runs along the coast”.
The appointment with Abruzzo will be at BIT 2022 at fieramilanocity from Sunday 10 to Tuesday 12 April 2022.
